Below you’ll find information about how I handle insurance, my session rates, and payment options. My goal is to keep things clear and transparent from the start.
Insurance
I’ve chosen not to work directly with insurance companies for a few reasons. Billing insurance directly often requires that I give you a formal mental health diagnosis (even if one does not necessarily apply for you), regular progress reporting, and limitations around the type or length of therapy I can provide. To put it plainly, dealing with insurance can be exhausting and restrictive and I want the administrative side of therapy to feel as straightforward and uncomplicated as possible for all involved.
I totally understand that paying out of pocket for therapy is an investment, and I don’t take that lightly. If you have out of network benefits, I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please keep in mind that couples therapy is typically not reimbursable as insurance requires that a mental health diagnosis be assigned. If working with a therapist who is in-network is important to you, I am happy to provide referrals for professionals who may accept your insurance plan.
Session Rates
- 15-Minute Consultation – Free
A brief, optional call to help us determine whether we’re a good fit before scheduling a full session. - Individual Therapy Sessions (50-60 minutes) – $130
Weekly or biweekly individual sessions focused on deepening insight, building skills, and creating meaningful change. - Couples Therapy Sessions (50-60 minutes) – $150
Weekly or biweekly sessions where both partners feel heard, supported, and challenged in a way that rebuilds connection and strengthens the relationship. I use the Gottman Method, attachment theory, and emotionally focused approaches. Couples therapy is generally not covered by insurance as coverage requires a mental health diagnosis to be assigned. - Since I don’t work with insurance, there is flexibility for longer sessions if desired.
Your appointment time is reserved for you. No-shows and sessions cancelled with less than 24-hours notice will result in a $90 fee with the exception of emergencies and other extenuating circumstances. Waiving this fee is at the discretion of the therapist.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of each session. I currently accept debit/credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and other standard payment methods through my secure client portal.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the “No Surprises Act,” you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the cost of your mental health care. You’ll receive this estimate prior to starting services and can request an updated version at any time.
